How to fold towels to save space

Today I am talking about how to fold towels. I know what you’re thinking you already know how to fold towels. I’m sure you do! But I’m going to show you how to fold towels in a way to save space in your linen closet. So let’s get started!

About a year ago, I discovered a way to fold towels that save space in my own linen closet, so I wanted to share that with you today.

I have created a YouTube video about this that would demonstrate exactly how I do this. So you can walk with me through the process. So head to the end of this article to watch the video or attempt to follow along with my instructions 🙂

So let’s get started! I have a regular-sized towel.

1. I am going to first find where the tag is. 
2. I’m going to lay the towel out first length wise with the tag on the inside.
3. I’m going to take my left side and fold it over to the right folding it in half.
4. The side that has no opening, which should be your left side. Pull it over to the middle of the right side.
5. Rub it flat, to get all the extra air bubbles out.
6. Take the other side (the side that has the opening) and fold it over the middle side. Going from left to right now.
7. At this point it should look like a long rectangle.
8. Take the bottom and move it up to the top to fit. 
9. Make sure to get all the air out so it lays nice and flat.

I highly recommend when you are putting your towels into the linen closet, you put them in with the closed side facing outward. The open flaps towards the back of the linen closet. That way everything will look organized and uniform. We want it to look organized and uniform of course but what this also does is save space. 

You may be thinking what does this have to do with real estate, right? Well if you’re selling your home, you want your linen closet to
appear that there is plenty of space, and you want it to look organized. if your linen closet is a mess it makes the buyers freak out. I see it happen day in and day out. Buyers will open a linen closet that is crammed with stuff, towels shoved inside, sheets rolled in a ball (I get it life happens and this does happen, BUT when you are selling your house you need for it to be organized) and they immediatley panic. I can see the wheels turning in their heads with negative thoughts “OH MY GOSH, this house doesn’t have enough storage space because this linen closet is crammed with stuff – I want more space and want organization if I am going to move, My linen closet will be like this and it will stress me out, this house is too small for me.” Seriously, they are thinking all of these negative thoughts all within moments of looking at your linen closet. 

So here is a little more info on folding towels to save space. When I originally folded towels (with my old method)  I was only able to fit three rows across in my linen closet of towels. Now in my linen closet I can stack four by folding in this method. So this definitely has created more space for me and I’m hoping that it will create some more space for you as well.
