New Lenox School District 122 (2019)

Did you know that New Lenox school district 122 has 12 schools not including the high schools? Well I am going to talk about all of the schools today! New Lenox school district 122 has 5,400 students for grades preschool through eighth grade. There is a preschool, a kindergarten, 4 elementary schools for grades 1st through 3rd, 4 middle schools for grades 4 through 6, and 2 junior High’s for grades 7th and 8th.

Let’s take a look at some of those schools now.

Elementary Schools:

Cherry Hill is the preschool (early childhood building) Cherry Hill has early childhood programs as well as elementary programs. They provide preschool screenings for New Lenox residents four times a year. If the student qualifies based on their screening results they would be able to register for the program(s). They have multiple programs available but availability is based on the screening results. Cherry Hill also has programs for students in district who have multiple disabilities or require more intensive behavior analysis services. For a half day the schedule is 8:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Spencer Trail is the Kindergarten. They are a half day Kindergarten with both morning and afternoon classes. The morning classes are from 8:25 A.M. until 10:55 A.M. The afternoon classes are from 12:20 P.M. until 2:50 P.M. They have approximately 13 teachers for the 2018-2019 school year with additional support staff such as paraprofessionals, support teachers, reading specialists, etc. Greatschools.org has not currently rated Spencer Trail, however, you can click this link to view on greatschools.org’s website. Nelson Prairie is for 1st through 3rd grade. The school day is from 9:15 A.M. until 3:40 P.M. Nelson Prairie works diligently in creating a family type atmosphere in their school. They want the children to feel comfortable to allow educational growth. The school social worker works with the grade levels as classes (as a whole) on important skills such as; trustworthiness, listening skills, teamwork and cooperation. Creating an open environment for discussion and learning helps facilitate a healthy environment for students to learn. Nelson Prairie was rate an 8 out of 10 by GreatSchools.org. Arnold J Tyler is 1st through 3rd grade.The school day is from 9:15 A.M. until 3:40 P.M. Arnold J. Tyler has a song about their school that you can listen to by clicking here. Like Nelson Prairie they work on important skill growth throughout the year. Greatschools.org has rated Arnold J. Tyler a 7 out of 10. Haines is first through third grade. Haines school opened for the 1964-1965 school year. They have approximately 6 teachers for each grade level not including support specialists. They have approximately 10 support specialists for first through third grades. The school day is from 9:15 A.M. until 3:40 P.M. Greatschools.org has rated Haines Elementary a 5 out of 10. Spencer Pointe is first through third grade. The school day is from 9:15 A.M. until 3:40 P.M. Spencer Pointe is a 2-Story building so children may be walking up and down stairs throughout the day. They are encouraged to wear gym shoes to be most comfortable throughout the day. The school day is from 9:15 A.M. until 3:40 P.M. Greatschools.org has rate Spencer Pointe a 7 out of 10. Middle Schools:

Caroline Bentley is for grades 4th-6th. Caroline Bentley school has such a beautiful story of how the school began. She was an amazing, kind, giving woman who cared so much about child education. Oster-Oakview is for grades 4th through 6th. They have approximately 29 teachers/support staff for grades 4th through 6th. The school day is from 7:35 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Nelson Ridge is for grades 4th through 6th. Nelson Ridge is one of the newer buildings in the district that opened in 1999. The school day is from 7:35 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Spencer crossing 4th through 6th grade. The school day is from 7:35 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. They take pride in offering a variety of after school activities. Junior High Schools:

Liberty Junior High is for 7th and 8th grade. Liberty Junior High is one of the newer buildings in the district that opened in 2002. The school day is from 8:25 A.M. until 2:50 P.M.
